Plants versus pavers, Camden, NW3

Brief for Garden design

Our client wanted a garden design with more space in her mostly-paved garden to allow for more planting. We always strive to have a good balance of plants and hard landscaping and worked closely with our client to mark out which pavers to remove, whilst still leaving a path running through the garden, and areas for seating. This new layout allowed us to design lush flower beds all around the seating areas so that our client felt truly immersed in her garden.

Planting Design

Our client had strong colour preferences and it was very enjoyable working with her to fine tune her plant palette for both sunny and shady areas of the garden We then drew up a detailed planting plan featuring a combination of evergreen shrubs, flamboyant herbaceous perennials and robust ground cover plants which will knit together to provide successional planting and interest throughout the year.

Holistic planting

Once the paving was removed, we planted up these new areas with choice plants from a number of our favoured specialist nurseries and continuing the planting design throughout the whole garden to create a holistic look to our client’s outdoor space.

First growing season

The garden was planted up in June, with a hot summer forecast ahead. Our client was very diligent in watering these new plants and as a result, the garden has flourished during its first growing season. We’re looking forward to seeing how the garden fills out even further this coming year and how climbing roses will clothe the tall back wall in years to come.

Testimonial

Naomi and Laura have transformed my North London garden into a wonderful oasis filled with colour, beautiful flowering perennials, bees and butterflies. I was so impressed by their detailed knowledge of which plants would thrive in my garden’s soil and they were absolutely right. Everything has flourished and it’s a joy to spend time in the space they’ve created and I know it will be for years to come.  Lucy, South End Green.
