Client Brief
Our client wanted a contemporary garden design that would meet the needs of all the family and look good all year round from kitchen area at the back of the house. As a keen gardener, he wanted a garden full of interesting, choice plants, somewhere for the children to play, somewhere to quietly sit amongst the planting and an area large enough to have dinner outside with friends.
Running Water
As with many North London gardens, the space is small, but by adding interesting features, such as a copper rill running through the borders, and change in levels, we’ve created a modern twist to an urban garden. Running water gives a sensory pleasure, vibrant planting adds year-round interest and different heights and textures in the provide privacy and a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
Playful successional planting
A lively combination of perennials and flowering shrubs provided a rich tapestry of colours and scents throughout the year. We retained existing olive and Rowan trees and added a multi-stemmed Silver Birch to match this higher canopy. Dappled light through the trees creates changing areas of shade throughout the day, allowing for lush planting in the majority of the garden and small sunny areas perfect for creating pops of colour.
