Client brief
The clients wanted a garden design to transform their overgrown, uninviting 9m x 5m back garden into a vibrant space, using existing bamboos and trees as a backdrop, but also wanted much more colour and scent and additional areas to sit in.
Before
To work with the challenge of small borders full of roots, and a failing lawn area, we designed raised beds of differing heights to break up the garden levels and to create intriguing focal points.
Corten Steel Raised Beds
Our garden design used custom-built raised beds to line both sides of a path creating a gentle sweeping double curve, leading the eye to a second seating area. The raised beds allowed for a generous planting design, creating a sense of drama, enclosure and privacy.
Plant choices
Voluptuous planting now fills the raised beds and also gives a dramatic view from inside the house. Colourful and exotic plants work well with the exiting bamboo and trees and look stunning against the rusted steel raised beds.
Continuation of indoor aesthetics
Slate paving matches the indoor kitchen tiles and creates a harmonious flow into the new garden design.
